Dear Parents, Parent Advisory Board members, PTA & PA members, Principals, Teachers, Parent Coordinators, Counselors and Community Education Councils:

Queens Borough President Melinda Katz would like to invite you to her next Parent Advisory Board meeting to be held on Monday, October 7, 2019 from 5pm to 8pm in the Atrium at Queens Borough Hall located at 120-55 Queens Boulevard in Kew Gardens, NY.  The event will include a High School Fair from 5pm to 8pm where parents will have an opportunity to learn more about the different high schools, their programs, the different admissions criteria for Zoned schools, Specialized high schools, performing arts schools, special program schools, special testing schools, schools that provide college credit, career and technical schools, and special needs accommodations. Some of the High Schools attending also have Middle Schools. We will also be hosting a workshop on the Specialized High School Admissions process, Testing, Criteria and the Dream Program (free test prep program) from 6pm to 7pm and  from 7pm to 8pm we will have a workshop on the general High School admissions process and their programs. 

Parents will have an opportunity to ask questions.  All parents and educators are invited to attend this informative meeting.

6pm –7pm          Workshop by Glennis Gomez, Lead Enrollment Specialist for Specialist High Schools and Allie Jackson Hing Enrollment Specialist at the Department of Education who will speak on: the Specialized High School Admissions Process, their programs, testing, criteria, and Dream Program                             (free test prep program)
7pm-8pm            Workshop General High School Admissions Process and their programs:

–          Queens High School for the Sciences at York College – Specialized High School in Queens

–          Bard High School Early College Queens –  High School students graduate with an Associate’s College Degree tuition-free

–          Townsend Harris High School – An academically selective high school that is highly competitive

–          Frank Sinatra School of the Arts – Performing Arts High School audition process

–          Bayside High School – Program specific admissions criteria

–          Thomas A Edison High School – Career and Technical Certifications upon graduation and college credit

–          Maspeth High School – Open Admissions Priority to District 24 students

–          Academy of American Studies – Admissions criteria screened

–          York Early College Academy – Admissions criteria screened (High School & Middle School)

–          The Young Women’s Leadership School of Astoria – Admissions criteria screened

–          Scholars Academy – Admissions criteria screened (High School & Middle School)

–          East West School of International Studies –Admissions Criteria Educational Option (High School & Middle School)

–          Forest Hills High School – Program specific admissions criteria

–          Robert F. Kennedy Community High School – Admissions Criteria Educational Option
