This Saturday, October 10th, is World Mental Health Day. This day was observed for the first
time on October 10th in 1992 and has been observed ever since. The purpose of World Mental Health Day
is to create awareness around mental health, as well as to remove feelings of shame and encourage those
who are struggling with their mental health to receive support. The theme of this year is ‘mental health
for all’. Due to COVID-19, many have been experiencing feelings of anxiety, fear and emotional distress.
Hence, practicing self-care is crucial during this time. It is critical for families to encourage open dialogue
with each other to discuss how they are feeling, as well as to share what emotions they are experiencing.
We all have been facing obstacles that we have never faced before and it’s important to support one
another and keep in mind that we are all in this together.
