MAY NEWS 2022
Dear SFACA Families:
We hope that you all have had a beautiful Easter and were able to celebrate with family and friends. As we are now in the month of May, we remember the significance of Mary as our Holy Mother and her importance in our lives. We also celebrate and wish all Academy moms, aunts, grandmothers, and all who act in the beautiful role as Mother a beautiful and happy Mother’s Day.
We want to thank Mrs. Maria Kyriakopoulos, our Home/Academy, and our parents for the generous donations and gifts for our Grocery Bingo last month. The dedication and hard work to make a successful Grocery Bingo is deeply appreciated. Thank you to all who made it a successful evening!
This month, we also congratulate our Second Graders as they celebrate their First Holy Communion. May their love and faith for Jesus always be strengthened through the Eucharist.
Our Walk-a-thon is scheduled on May 27th. We are very excited to be able to continue this SFACA tradition of having a day to show our support for our Academy and have some fun doing it. Please pray for a sunny day!
We would like to thank our families for the generous monetary fundraiser for the people of Ukraine. We are happy to announce that we have raised over $2,000 for this worthy cause with our dress down day. We continue to pray for the country of Ukraine, and its people. We pray for peace in our world.
We are very pleased to announce that the reaccreditation process of our Academy has been successful and productive. We thank our parents, teachers, board members and students for their dedication in this process. A formal report will be sent in the upcoming weeks.
The students are in their third and final trimester of the school year. It is remarkable how quickly this school year went.
We encourage the students to complete all their class assignments, homework, and to prepare thoroughly for their test assessments. Please remind your children that special subjects are also important to prepare for and complete all assignments. All work for these classes will be reflected in their progress reports. The NYS ELA and Math tests have been completed and the NYS Science Performance test will be given this month.
Our Academy has partnered with Ridgewood Savings Bank with the “Smart Savers School Banking Program”. There is still time if you are interested in having your child participate in this program. Please contact the office if your child is still interested.
Dress down days are fun ways to be in school without wearing school uniforms. However, as a gentle reminder, please make sure that dress guidelines are being followed. Please no tight leggings or spandex athletic gym wear. Sweatpants are acceptable. Please, no cropped belly shirts or torn jeans for school. We appreciate your help and support with this matter.
Kindly remember that there should be NO SMOKING on school grounds. Please refrain from smoking near the school and church premises, especially near our students and families. In addition, please be mindful of double parking and blocking the yellow school busses in the front of the school. Our children’s safety is always our priority. Please remember that there should be no running or playing around the church or the steps after dismissal. Thank you for your cooperation.
Ms. Stefano, Faculty, and Staff
