SFACA Celebrates Catholic Schools Week, February 7 to February 12, 2021

The theme for Catholic Schools Week is “Catholic Schools: Faith. Excellence. Service.” Catholic schools have a specific purpose: to form students to be good citizens of the world, love God and neighbor and enrich society with the leaven of the gospel and by example of faith.  Academic excellence is the hallmark of Catholic education intentionally directed to the growth of the whole person – mind, body and soul. Finally, service is fundamental to Catholic education and the core of Catholic discipleship. Service is intended to help people not only be witnesses to Catholic social teaching, but also active participants through social learning.

The CSW logo emphasizes that the Catholic school, like the Catholic Church, is not a building or an institution, but it is the people. As the people of God, we work together to bring the Kingdom of God to Earth and raise up the next generation to do the same. The image of teachers and students forming the foundation of the school shows that they are active people of faith who serve others and God. We look forward to celebrating and sharing our school, St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Academy, with you. talents to the fullest extent throughout their lives.

CSW’s Theme of Faith, Service & Excellence introduced Phys Ed Style….

Posted on February 11, 2021

This year’s theme for Catholic Schools Week is “Catholic Schools: Faith. Excellence. Service.” Our Phys Ed Teacher, Mrs. Angelika Mincone, introduced her classes to cooperation games that challenged the mind, physical ability. The games involved:
1. A team’s ability to have FAITH in one another.
2. How to work together to strive for EXCELLENCE.
3. SERVICE – by assisting each other to reach a common goal.
Kudos to Mrs. Mincone for her creativity! Teamwork makes the dream work! #CSW21

This Year, SFACA’s CSW Service Project will benefit Feeding America…..

Posted on February 9, 2021

Every year SFACA chooses a Service Project for Catholic Schools Week. This year we have chosen to raise funds for

Feeding America.  Feeding America is a nationwide network of food banks which secures and distributes 4.3 billion meals each year through food pantries and meal programs and leads the nation to engage in the fight against hunger. Millions of children and families living in America face hunger and food insecurity every day. Due to the effects of the Corona Virus pandemic, more than 50 million people may experience food insecurity including a potential 17 million children.

We have setup an online donation campaign via Givebutter and our students and their families are off to a great start. We hope you would consider joining us in making this our strongest effort ever! Feel free to share this project with your family and friends, and as a bonus, in the spirit of friendly competition, the class that raises the most, will be treated to an ice cream celebration!

We thank you in advance for your generosity and your spirit of giving. Together SFACA can Feed America! #SFACAFamilyStrong #CSW21
