Art Curriculum

In art class, SFA students will delve into a world of creativity and self-expression.

The students will be exposed to a variety of mediums including (but not limited to): crayons, colored pencils, markers, led pencils, pastels, ink, charcoal, tempera, watercolor, and acrylic paint. Students will learn drawing and painting techniques, and complete a variety of projects acquainting them with the seven basic elements of art: line, shape, color, value, texture, form, and space.

As an introduction to art history education; the students will be exposed to the works of famous artists. They will discover the ways these artists used the seven elements of art, and complete projects inspired by them.

Students will utilize a variety of art materials and processes, which sharpens sensory awareness. In addition, students will keep a sketchbook, which will provide a creative outlet to explore techniques and practice skills learned in class.

Art is our mission and creativity our goal!
