I wish you and your families a happy and healthy thanksgiving!
We have been busy reading and writing! After we finish The Tiger Rising, we will discuss possible themes and the children will be taught how to ‘dig deeper’ to fully develop their ideas. We will begin working on creating an outline to help us organize our writing before drafting in a few weeks. Final copies will be sent home once they are finished! We will begin reading Maniac Magee around November 25th – please make sure your child has a copy of the book by then.
Fifth grade has just finished their first lab in Lab Learners. They learned about microscopic explorations. The students made their own models of plant and animal cells out of different materials.

On September 13, 2019 our newly formed Student Council for this school year was installed during our Opening School Mass. Students from grades 6-8 compose the 9-member board of the student government. The final selection was made by the principal and middle school teachers. Criteria for nomination is based on leadership, responsibility, and the ability to relate to the faculty, staff, and the student body. The term of office is one year. The council meets monthly, discusses current school issues, and makes suggestions for additional school activities. Mrs. Cavera & Miss Biscaglia serve as moderators for the student council.
