Dear SFA Families:
As we begin the beautiful month of May dedicated to Mary, we are mindful of the many blessings and graces our children will receive as they celebrate the greatness of God’s love in the Sacrament of Holy Eucharist on May 4, 2019. The school and parish community rejoices with you as you celebrate this special occasion with your children.
HOME ACADEMY MEETING will be on Thursday, May 16th at 6:30 p.m. in Msgr. Campbell Hall. SFACA’s STEM Lab will be open to see from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
On May 23rd at 6:30 p.m. in MCH, Brother Ralph will be presenting an overview of the Academy Strategic Planning process.. We hope that you will make every effort to attend.
SPECIAL THANKS TO:
-Mrs. A. Mincone, Mrs. Marchand and Mrs. Zotto for coordinating the “Help John Heal and Seal” Road Runner event and for all students, parents and staff who so generously contributed to help the LaMicela Family. Together we raised $3758.
-All who participated in our Earth Day dress down which realized $324.
-Our Home Academy Association for the Spring Fling and to the teachers who chaperoned.
-Maria Kyriakopoulos and the Home Academy Association for planning and coordinating all the various events that have taken place during this school year. They give 110% of their time and energy to support our children and our school.
-the teachers and staff who helped organize the Primary Grade Dance-a-thon
-Our parents who helped with Money Counting, Bagels, Pizza, Ice Cream, Door Duty, Cake Sales, Chicken Nuggets, and Pasta
-Mrs. Minieri, Lunch Supervisor, and her dedicated lunch staff for a terrific job of serving and supervising the students
-Mrs. Kerins, moderator of the Missions, and our students and their families for their support of the missions. Donations amounting to $453 were sent to the Propagation of the Faith.
-Miss Mastricovo for her direction with the Cheerleading and Newspaper Clubs.
-Miss Gangi and Mrs. Chin-Sinn for their direction with the Drama Club and scheduled performance on May 10th at 7:30 p.m.
-Miss Posa for coordinating Earth Day and to the students for their beautiful messages about ways to heal the earth
-Grade 7 parents who volunteered to set up and serve at the April Cake Sale with a profit of $131.
-Mrs. Nassis for sending us used ink cartridges for recycling at Staples
-Our second graders and their families on the occasion of their First Holy Communion on May 4th.
-George Kyriakopoulos from Grade 3 for representing SFACA at the Diocesan Math Bee.
-Mia Lopez from Grade 8 who will represent SFACA at the Junior High Oratorical Presentation at Our Lady of Mercy School. Good Luck, Mia! We are very proud of you.
FYI AND REMINDERS:
-Students may begin wearing summer uniforms on Tuesday, May 1st. Uniforms may only be purchased from Flynn and O’Hara. School shoes may only be purchased from Da-Bar Too. Girls may only wear brown, yellow or white hair accessories.
-With the change of the season, please be conscious of your child’s personal hygiene and occasionally check hair for lice.
-Communion Breakfast for Second Graders and families will be on Sunday, May 5 in Msgr. Campbell Hall after 9:30 a.m. Mass
-Registration for new students will be on May 9th and June 6th from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Call the school for an appointment.
-Families are invited to our May Crowning on Thursday, May 9th at 1:30 p.m. in church. Second graders are to wear their Communion outfits.
-Kindergarten and Grade 8 Graduation pictures will be taken on Thursday, May 9th.
-Lunch Program fee for the 2019-2020 school year is due by June 15th.
-If children are not returning to SFACA in September, please come to the office to fill out a transfer form so that records can be forwarded to their new school.
-For the safety of the children, please avoid double parking by school and church, and please do not bring your dog to school.
PLEASE NOTE: Parents who are picking up children at 2:30 p.m. and 2:45 p.m., please be mindful that other students are still in class and need quiet to concentrate on their studies. On many occasions, teachers and students have been distracted by the sounds and activity outdoors. We appreciate your consideration of this request.
May Mary, the Mother of God, be a special source of guidance for us, and may Mary be a model for all mothers. We wish all the Moms, Step-Moms, Grandmothers, and Godmothers a very Happy Mother’s Day on May 12th.
