Dear St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Academy Family,

This is a very exciting time for us as we open the doors to our second year as an academy and welcome our students on September 5, 2018 to a wonderful year of learning that has been especially planned for them. 

In order to make our academy opening as smooth as possible, we would like to provide you with some information that will help you get your child ready for the big day.


Grades Pre-School, K through Grade 8 Wednesday September 5th at 6:30 p.m.

(MCH – church basement)

All parents will meet with the SFACA’s Board of Directors and me regarding important information, goals, and expectations about the 2018-2019 academy year. After this brief meeting you will be directed to your child’s classroom to meet with his/her teacher.

: will begin on WEDNESDAY, September 5thAll Families will receive a letter from their child’s assigned teacher.  This letter will include a session time for you to report with your child on Wednesday, September 5th.  On Thursday and Friday students will attend class from 8:30 a.m. and be dismissed at 10:30 a.m. Pre-K will enter and be dismissed from the front door on 46th Street.

PRE-SCHOOL STUDENTS:  Each Pre-School student will be assigned a day and time to report for a 10 minute session with their teacher and a parent/guardian on one day, either Thursday, September 6th or Friday, September 7thThese appointments will be arranged during the Parent Orientation Meeting on Wednesday evening.  All Pre-School students will begin regular sessions on Monday, September 10th at 8:15 a.m.

All students should arrive in the schoolyard 5 minutes before set schedule.  Students in Grades K through 8th should be dressed in full school uniform. Each teacher will be outside to greet and direct them to their designated class line.  We ask all parents to remain outside the schoolyard.

If for any reason your child/children will not be attending St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Academy in September or they will not begin on their assigned day, please call the school office during the week of August 27th.

SCHOOL OFFICE: The school office will be open on Tuesday and Wednesday, August 28th and 29th.  Please call if you have any questions or to make an appointment for registration of new students.

TUITION STATEMENTS: Each family’s first tuition statement was mailed on August 1st.  Payments are due by the 15th of each month for a period of 10 months beginning August 15th and ending in May. Statements include the $150.00 Family Technology Fee, the $100 Activity Fee for Pre-School, and the 8th Grade Graduation Fee.  Also enclosed is a raffle book for our Annual Fall Festival. Every family is required to purchase/sell one raffle book ($100.00).  All payments must be made by check, money order or credit card and should be brought or mailed to the Rectory. Credit Card Tuition Payment Forms can be downloaded here in the FORMS section and returned with your Tuition Statement or scanned and emailed to Cash will not be accepted. Family name, child’s name, and grade should be noted on all checks.  

EARLY DROP-OFF AND EXTENDED DAY PROGRAMS:  All programs will begin on Monday, September 10th.  Early Drop-Off begins at 7:30 a.m. Students should enter through the front door. Staff will not be available before 7:30 a.m. The cost is $2.00 per day. The Extended Day (Afterschool) Program is in session from 2:30-6 p.m., Monday through Friday unless otherwise noted. The program can be used as necessary. Extended Day Program and Early Drop-Off Applications are available from the school office.

UNIFORMS AND SHOES:  Flynn & O’Hara is our contracted uniform company located in the Atlas Park Mall, 8000 Cooper Ave., Glendale, (718) 326-2704. Please do not purchase uniforms from any other outlet. DaBar Shoes Too, 70-05 Grand Avenue, Maspeth, 718 779-154, is our official shoe store. Pre-School and Pre-K have the option to purchase school T- shirts, shorts and sweatpants with or without the school name.

    Families will receive a handbook at the Parent Orientation Meeting.  Please read this handbook with your child/children, sign the tri-fold insert as an agreement to follow all school procedures and policies, and return the tri-fold insert to each child’s homeroom teacher.
