Welcome to the 2017-18 Academy Year!

Dear St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Academy Family,

This is a very exciting time for us as we open the doors to our new academy and welcome our students on September 6, 2017 to a wonderful year of learning that has been especially planned for them. 

In order to make our academy opening as smooth as possible, we would like to provide you with some information that will help you get your child ready for the big day.

 PARENT ORIENTATION &  MEET THE TEACHER MEETING

Grades Pre-School, K through Grade 8
Wednesday, September 6th at 6:30 p.m.
In Monsignor Campbell Hall (MCH – church basement)

All parents will meet with the SFACAs Board of Directors and me regarding important information, goals, and expectations about the 2017-2018 academy year. After this brief meeting you will be directed to your childs classroom to meet with their teacher.

 ALL PRE-K FOR ALL STUDENTS
: will begin on THURSDAY, September 7thAll Families will receive a letter from their childs assigned teacher.  This letter will include a session time for you to report with your child on Thursday, September 7th.  On Friday students will attend class from 8:30 a.m. and be dismissed at 10:00 a.m.  Pre-K will enter and be dismissed from the front door on 46th Street.

PRE-SCHOOL STUDENTS:  Each Pre-School student will be assigned a day and time to report for a 10 minute session with their teacher and a parent/guardian on one day either, Thursday, September 7th or Friday, September 8thThese appointments will be arranged during the Parent Orientation Meeting on Wednesday evening.  All Pre-School students will begin regular sessions on Monday, September 11th at 8:15 a.m.

All students should arrive in the schoolyard 5 minutes before set schedule.  Students in Grades K through 8th should be dressed in full school uniform. Each teacher will be outside to greet and direct them to their designated class line.  We ask all parents to remain outside the schoolyard.

If for any reason your child/children will not be attending St. Francis of Assisi School in September, or they will not begin on their assigned day, please call the school office during the week of August 28th.

SCHOOL OFFICE: The school office will be open on Tuesday and Wednesday, August 29th and 30th.  Please call if you have any questions or to make an appointment for registration of new students.

TUITION STATEMENTS: Each familys first tuition statement is enclosed in the August mailing.  Payments are due by the 15th of each month for a period of 10 months beginning August and ending in May. Statements include the $100.00 Family Technology Fee, Activity Fee for Pre-School, and the 8th Grade Graduation Fee.  Also enclosed is a raffle book for our Annual Fall Festival. Every family is required to purchase/sell one raffle book ($100.00).  All payments must be made by check or money order and should be brought or mailed to the Rectory. Cash will not be accepted. Family name, childs name, and grade should be on all checks.  In order to receive the Catholic rate for tuition, every SFA Family must be registered and using Church envelopes. The suggested donation each week is $9.00. If you are not receiving Church envelopes, please stop by the rectory to register.  Families who are not registered with SFA or their own parish will be charged the non-Catholic tuition rate.  Families who are worshiping in parishes other than SFA will receive the Catholic rate for tuition if they use their own parish weekly envelopes.

EARLY DROP-OFF AND EXTENDED DAY PROGRAMS:  All programs will begin on Monday, September 11th.  Early Drop-Off begins at 7:30 a.m. Students should enter through the front door. Staff will not be available before 7:30 a.m. The cost is $2.00 per day. The Extended Day (AfterSchool) Program is in session from 2:30-6 p.m., Monday through Friday. The program can be used as necessary. Extended Day Program and Early Drop-Off Applications are available from the school office.

UNIFORMS AND SHOES:  Flynn & OHara is our contracted uniform company located in the Atlas Park Mall, 8000 Cooper Ave., Glendale, (718) 326-2704. Please do not purchase uniforms from any other outlet. DaBar Shoes Too, 70-05 Grand Avenue, Maspeth, 718 779-154, is our official shoe store. Pre-School and Pre-K have the option to purchase school T- shirts, shorts and sweatpants with or without the school name.

PARENT/STUDENT HANDBOOK:    Each student will receive a handbook at the Parent Orientation Meeting.  Please read this handbook with your child, sign the tri-fold insert as an agreement to follow all school procedures and policies, and return the tri-fold insert to your childs homeroom teacher.
